BFA pays tribute to former president George Lascaris

The Barbados Football Association is deeply saddened by the passing of former president and founder of the Barbados Cup, George LasCaris.

He passed away yesterday after a brief illness.

BFA president Randy Harris has paid tribute to LasCaris, describing him as one of the best administrators of football on the island.

"The BFA pays tribute to Mr George Lascaris, a former President, who will be remembered as one of the game's most progressive administrators, on his recent passing.

"Under his leadership, he oversaw the transformation of local Football, increasing participation, seeking and obtaining significant sponsorship and introducing new and exciting competitions on the Association's annual calendar.

"Lascaris played a significant role in the Shell Caribbean Cup and was the creator of the ever popular Barbados Cup, a regional tournament for youth teams, which was sustained for more than 30 years, and held during the Easter school break."

"May he rest in peace, we offer our deepest condolences to MArgo and his entire family." Harris said.
