The Barbados Football Association (BFA) was founded in 1910
and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010.
Bridgetown,
Barbados – The Barbados Football Association (BFA) has announced the National Senior Men’s Squad and their
Management Team who are travelling to Dominica today to compete in two
international ‘friendlies’ against the home side.
The first match is set to be held at
the Dominica Football Association (DFA) Technical Centre on Thursday 8th
May at 7pm local time, while the second match will be held on Sunday 11th
May at Windsor Park Sports Stadium at 4pm local time.
Head Coach
Kent Hall said the National Tridents were looking forward to the ‘friendlies’
against Dominica, however he emphasized the current squad has some notable
differences.
“It’s a very different squad from
last year in that several of the players who led the team in our successful
Concacaf Nations League campaign are unavailable, however this has created a wonderful
development opportunity for some new faces to step up. In fact, for nine of the
players selected, this will be their first time in a Senior Men’s National
squad.
These matches will therefore provide
the ideal platform to expose some of our newer local players to the demands of
senior international football and give them some critical experience.
It will be a learning experience for
everyone and all we can ask of the players is to try their best and to represent
their country with pride. We are looking forward to the two matches and we
thank the Dominica Football Federation for hosting us.”
The two matches will also form part of Team Barbados’ preparations in the lead
up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, scheduled for Wednesday 4th
June against Aruba at the BFA Technical Centre in Barbados, followed by Tuesday
10th June versus St. Lucia at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St.
Lucia.
Both friendly matches between
Dominica and Barbados will be broadcast live on FIFA+.
